Check Out My New Japanese Inspired Gardening Tool!! ホリ

Picked up this multi-purpose gardening tool over the winter and can't wait to try out! The name of this multi-purpose tool is Hori Hori. The Hori-Hori, first implemented in Japan, was originally used for carefully excavating plants. The word Hori (ホリ) means "to dig" in Japanese.

I bought this Hori Hori form Barebones Living. Barebones gives a life time warranty on the multi-tool. It comes with this cool Sheath that you can hook right on to your belt.

The Hori Hori is a heavy, half straight edge half serrated multi-purpose steel blade great for gardening jobs such as digging, cutting and chopping. I have not had the chance to use the Hori Hoir to it's full potential yet but I hear it is ideal for transplants, digging out old unwanted plants and planting seeds. Witch is good since I started over 200 seeds last week in Soil Blocks and Toilet Paper Rolls. (Click on the blue/green highlighted words to view those posts)

The back of the blade is concave to help with digging. The lines on the back are inch marks to easily measure out spacing for plants or depth to plant seeds. At the end of the handle there is a heavy piece of steel. This can be used like a hammer to drive things into the ground or a popped nail.
